Hi,
I just purchased online a nikon d5000dx. I would like to purchase a new lense like the
Nikon Nikkor-C zoom 80-200mm f4.5 Non AI. Would this lense fit on the d5000dx camera?
Any help would be great. Also, in general do most nikon lenses fit on nikon cameras?

All entry level Nikon cameras are designed to use the Nikkor AF-S lenses. They are the fastest focusing auto-focus lenses made and as time goes on, all the new Nikkor lenses will be AF-S.
Had you really wanted to use manual focus lenses, you should have done a tiny bit more research. What you would have found is that Nikon cameras like the D90, D80 and D70 can use all the autofocus Nikkor lenses as well as all the "AI" lenses shot manually. You would have further found that non-ai lenses have to be upgraded to AI in order for the light metering system to work.
Is seems you spent your money before you had all the facts.
The old 80-200 mm lens was wonderful when it was the only kid in town and was mounted on a Nice Nikon F2, but that was decades ago.

NIKON D3X Lens Compatibility?

Hello all! I have just upgraded from a Nikon D300 to the D3X.
The camera body will be with me in a couple of days and I've just noticed (should have checked before!) that the lenses I currently use may not be compatible with the D3X.
The lenses are :
1. Nikon 18-70mm AF-S DX
2. Sigma 70-300mm AF DG
3. Tokina 12-24mm (IF) DX
4. Nikon 85mm Analog Manual (old!)
Can anyone tell me if I can still use these lenses or will I need to take out a second mortgage for some new kit?

Any lenses, Nikon or other wise, that do not give you a full 35mm equivalent of coverage will give you a vignetted image. Any lens marked with a DX is meant for cameras with APS size sensors and while they will fit on other bodies, the lenses will NOT cover a full frame chip as in the D3X....
