okay i have a canon Powershot A530 and a Canon EOS D60 and whenever i use them, it never wants to take the picture. as in they have a hard time focusing and half the time ive been putting my lens on MF because it never wants to take the picture
so i guess my question is:
does your camera ever do that?
and
is there anything i can do to fix it?

The camera will take the image when it achieves focus. Are you sure you know how to use the focusing system? Types of situation you need to have enough contrast for focus, enough light, lens aperture set correctly, camera set up properly.....I agree this sounds like operator error, but it could be a problem with the camera as well.....take it back to the store and have a tech look at it.....heck even a salesman at Best Buy should be able to use a camera correctly.

ive shot many pictures with my 24-85mm lens and recently it hasn't been focusing when i shoot on the manual mode..it does focus on the auto modes though.. whats wrong with my lens?
is it because ive been using it so much? or do i have a defect?

Generally using a Canon (or Nikon even) lens a lot will not cause failure ... if that were true, none of the pros would use them. Many times lenses will have over 100,000 actuation's on them in a year when used by a pro.
Make sure your camera/lens combination is in the auto-focus mode when you are using the manual controls. Depending upon which Canon EOS body you are using, you do have the option of manually focusing the lens in any mode. Just check and see how your camera/lens is set up.
