I just got a minolta x-370 for pretty cheap. I've heard they're okay cameras. my gf is starting out so I figured this would be good as her first 35 mm camera. when I bought it it came with a toyo five star mc auto f/2.8 28 mm lens, a toyo five star mc auto zoom f/3.5-4.8 35 - 75mm lens, and a toyo five star mc auto macro zoom f/4.5 75-200 mm lens. the 35-75 and 75-200 mm lenses came with expandable rubber sun shade thingys. I don't know what any of this means or if they take good pictures. lol. and can't find reviews anywhere. so if not ill buy another lens. any help or suggestions would be great! thanks a lot in advance :)

Yor new camera B a very good manual focus 35mm SLR. The lenses are good for someone starting out. Don't get more lenses.
No more new lenses R made for manual focus Minoltas. New autofocus Minoltas/Sonys use different kind of lens mount, so won't fit old camera like X-370.
Big things for old camera though:
1) check light seals--camera old enough that they may deteriorate and leak light.
2) Make sure shutter opens closes and speeds B right.
3) Look at lenses. Should be free of fungus on glass and no visible oil on aperture blades (you see blades inside the lens).
Best 2 load with film, take test shots, see if OK by developing/printing. If looks good, then lucky gf gets camera!

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.
Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting.
