I am thinking of getting a Cannon 550D DSLR with the twin lens kit. What lenses would you recommend? It comes with a 18-55 and 55-250mm lens. Is this okay or would you recommend something different?

Add in a fast prime (the 50mm f/1.8 is very popular) and you have a very decent kit to learn with. Those lenses are not the best in the Canon lineup, but after you learn how to use them, you will have a much better idea of what you want in the higher end lenses.
If you can afford a 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 off the bat, then they would be better than the stuff in the kit. It would also add $3,000 to the cost of the kit!

Has anyone dealt with digicombos.com for buying a dslr? Any input good or bad would be appreciated because they have the canon 40d w/28-135mm IS lens kit for $1380. Are they trustworthy and reputable?

According to ResellerRatings.com they have a rating of 7.5 on a scale of 1-10. Not great but not completely horrible either. I'd go with one of the more reputable dealers like Ritz or B&H and sleep a little better.
